The Daily Box Thought

I am finding a new energy to work my ass off on this blog except sometimes I think I am a little obsessive. Hah hah!

March 31, 2007

Well, after gracefully crashing my GWS Slow stick, I was on the look out for a plane to replace it with.

I have finally ordered a Multiplex Easy Glider which is a step up from the easy Slow stick, but I needed something more challenging anyway’s.

What I was on the look out for was a plane was was reasonably priced while have excellent feedback.  So at a price of $83 with shipping and people all over the Internet talking about this it, I bought the Easy glider.

The easy glider is made of all molded foam. It has a 71″ wing span with a 400 geared motor and folding prop.  It has full aileron, rudder and elevator controls.

From the few times that I have flown one of these planes owned by my friend, I have found it to be a fairly easy plane to fly even though most experienced pilots would say that it is not a good plane for beginners due to the ailerons and the size of the plane.

I read from a review that on a single hand toss without the motor, the glider was able to fly 75 yards which, for someone not real familiar with gliders, seems to be really good for a glider.

The assembly is suppose to be very easy taking no more than 3 hours.

So my glider should be here soon and then I can do a full review on it.  Until then, if you are new to Radio Control Airplanes, check out the GWS Slow Stick or for the intermediates like me go order yourself an Easy glider.

Have you ever wanted to try aerial photography, but you don’t have the money pay for a plane? I suggest you try out Radio Control Airplane aerial photography. The potential is limitless, whether it is to enter local photo contests or to make money by taking pictures of real estate property.

Today my friend and I went out to try out his camera glider configuration and her is a great shot of Reno, NV ( You can see the casinos in the back), with a hawk saying “Hi”!

Yah that is an interesting title I must say, but I had to think of something cool for a great video. I can’t even imagine how much practice it takes to get as good as these guys. I would be absolutely amazed to see this in person. Enjoy!!

Okay so the title isn’t exactly referring to what you think, but you have to say that it got your attention. This article is more of a start to an on going topic of radio controlled airplanes.
My experience with radio controlled airplanes is limited until just recently when I have been able to experience the hobby with little work and a lot of fun. Radio control planes go back in my family, but they always used expensive fragile balsa model planes that required windex and paper towels to clean up the mess of fuel created by the engines. I never really enjoyed hobbies that required so much work. So what makes it different now? Cheap speed controller,motors,Li-Po batteries and foam!
Li-Po batteries and foam have made it possible to make an enjoyable plane for $200 complete and ready to fly in no more than 3 hours. The foam makes planes extremely easy to build and repair. I have crashed my foam plane about 5 times and each time fixed it in the field in about 15 minutes. The reason why Li-Po batteries have made the hobby nice is that they offer the enough power to fly for more than 15 minutes. Nothing is more disappointing than running out of battery power on a great flying day.
You may ask, since it is so easy and cheap to get into the airplane hobby, what equipment should I get? Well, that is part of the reason I started this article. Just 2 months ago I received the ever so popular Slow Stick airplane for Christmas and never realized how much I would like the thing. This plane is slow, stable, durable, and unbelievably easy to fly and fix (for the inevitable crashes).

GWS Slow Stick

The plane is considered a park flyer maybe meaning that it is so easy to fly that you could fly it in a park. I would not recommend that for beginners! If you have ever wanted to try flying a radio controlled plane or are looking for a new fun hobby without hurting the pocket book too much, you should get a Slow Stick today. Most hobby shops will have them and all the replacement parts necessary for the times that something goes wrong. If you’re interested, then read on and I will tell you exactly what you need and where to get it. CLICK HERE FOR BUYING A SLOW STICK (more…)
