Last week I talked about attitude and how having a good attitude will help your life. Part of having a good attitude was exercising regularly which causes a release of endorphins and the more physically fit a person is, the more receptive they are to endorphins.
So based along the same lines, comes higher productivity with regular exercise. We all have logic which tells us, “If I exercise, then I am wasting time that I could be doing something else.” The only problem with that argument is that exercising will increase the efficiency of everything you do. You may be thinking, “Why would it increase my efficiency?”

Exercising increases your efficiency in two big ways. The first and probably most obvious is the increased physical energy and reduced fatigue someone who regularly exercises experiences. So the less fatigued one feels, the less burnt out one feels, and their productivity is increased. Next, we all have heard the phrase “Image is everything” and by exercising our self-image improves because of our psychological and physiological health. Exercising helps your body both psychologically and physiologically. While exercising, it is natural for someone to have uplifted mood and self-confidence levels, because psychologically they feel good about becoming healthier. Also, the increase level of endorphins helps a person’s stress and anxiety levels to decrease. So by having better moods and less stress, we convey confidence and excitement in our lives which can translate to others having higher confidence in the quality of your work. So exercising regularly can lead to more efficient and better quality of work, while creating an image of quality and success in ones life.

Exercise improves efficiency by:

  • Increasing Physical energy levels and reducing fatigue levels.
  • Increasing physical and mental health which conveys confidence and quality in the work being done.

The best way to experience this is to just start exercising regularly. If you don’t get more done, feel better, and have higher success, than quite exercising, but I am sure that will not be the case. It is good to write a journal which documents your exercising successes, so you can see improvements which boosts your confidence. Also take note of your attitude changes and mental health. Give it a trial period of exercising for at least 5 days a week for more than 30 minutes per day for 1 month. You will be forever happy that you took this step of exercising regularly.

Happy Exercising!
