10 Ways for Easy Extra Money

While I was helping my brother brainstorm ideas for a summer job, I started thinking about all the ways people make money easily by running their own businesses. I have thought of several and have attempted some of them, so here they are.
1.) Lawn Mowing Business
- I never ran a lawn mowing business, but my good friend did and he made a good amount of money compared to the amount that he worked. The hardest part about this business is taking initiative to walk door to door in your area letting people know that you are offering Lawn Mowing services. In a big neighborhood, it is fairly easy to get 15-20 clients who will pay $20/week which for a high school student can pretty much be taken under the table tax free. It takes about 1 hour for an average size lawn, so $400 for 20 hours of work is pretty good for a high school student.
2.) Dog Poop Clean-up Service
- I came upon this last year when I read about how much money this guy was making cleaning up dog poop from people yards. I immediately jumped on the opportunity and passed out flyers for about a week before I realized that I spelled something wrong and that I wasn’t getting any customers. My brother and I quit way too early, because we were hoping for instant success. But as the odd saying goes Persistence pays off. I think this business has a lot of potential if it is given the right amount of effort.
3.) Write a blog
- If you know a lot about anything, someone is probably willing to hear what you have to say. With a blog, you can write regular articles about your hobby and hopefully start to develop a regular visitor base and some search engine traffic. After you start getting a lot of visitors, making money by monetizing a blog is fairly straight forward. The key is to stick to a topic and write good articles. Many people are making $500+ per month in ad revenues.
4.) Buy stuff at garage sales or Craigslist and sell it on ebay
- One of my favorite hobbies even though not a great money maker is to go to Garage Sales looking for stuff to sell of ebay. I have made over 500% profit on several items in my short time of being serious about this. If you plan you routes well trying to make right turns only to save time (UPS style), then you will be able to hit a lot of garage sales in only a few hours and hopefully make some money. The opportunity is hit and miss, but when you hit, normally it is pretty good, so it can be good. Part of making it good is to maximize Ebay profits
which I wrote about in an earlier article.
5.) Sell unused stuff on ebay
- Take your used stuff that hasn’t been used in over 6-months and get rid of it on ebay. It is amazing how much stuff I have that just sits collecting dust, so when I sell that stuff, it feels like money in my pocket. It is useless to just have money stored into something that isn’t used. To make your life easier, order free shipping supplies to make shipping easy after selling you items.
6.) Donate Plasma
- I have yet to try this, because I don’t really care for the feeling afterwards of having this scab right at the bend of your elbow, but the money potential is real. I have read that Plasma centers will pay eligible donors up to $20 per visit or $50 per week if you donate twice a week. One guy suggested that if you donated twice a week from age 18 to 28 years old, and place all the money in a Roth IRA averaging 10% by the time you are 65 it will be $1 Million dollars. Or you can look at it as weekend money for gas and beer money.
7.) Tutoring
- For a college student, this has a lot of potential. I know of some college students that make $35/ hour tutoring high school students. Hours are limited, but at $20-$35/ hour, limited hours are still decent. If you are a senior is high school, you may be able to make $10-$15/ hour for just saying what you already know. It is really easy money and fairly easy to get a job. Post flyers at school or look for a local tutoring center offering tutoring positions.
8.) Make money doing surveys
- This is fairly self explanatory, so basically you get paid to do a survey about products. I wrote an article about making money with survey companies. It is reasonable to make $30-$50 per month.
9.) Make money with your credit
- Make money with your credit can be fairly good depending on ones credit status. I made well over $2000 in the last year with a little bit of work. The process is called App-O-Rama and I talk all about it in my App-O-Rama series.
10.) Offer cheap web or internet services on craigslist.
- There are a lot of companies that advertise web and internet services, but they have overhead and large profits to make, so for an individual it is fairly easy to find work building small websites and doing services such as virus removal, computer clean-up, and technical support. Place a free ad on craigslist every couple weeks and search daily looking for people wanting these services.

3.) Write a blog
Hi I would be interesting in reading articles about people who are making money out of blogging. Do you know of any? Thanks
