This is the third and final article about App-o-rama’s, but this is by no means the end of the discussion. There is so much to know about app-o-rama’s, but the scope of this series was to give a brief understanding of the process from start to finish. If you missed the first two, you can read them here App-o-rama – Make thousands of dollars with your credit and Part 2 – How and when to do an App-o-rama..
Once an app-o-rama is complete, you will receive the cards in the mail fairly soon, so try to stay ahead of the game by being organized. The first thing to do is going to your local office supply store and buy a business card folder which doubles as a credit card folder and a paper sorter that looks like an accordion. They card folder is used to store all of the cards, since you will not actually being using all of them more than once. The accordion paper sorter is used to keep record of all the paperwork associated with each credit card. When the cards come in the mail, call the number on the sticker, activate the card and put it in your card folder. If you have to make a purchase on the card to get your promotion offer, then mark the place holder in your card folder with a symbol to remind you to make a purchase with that card.
Now that you have organized your cards and the paperwork, you need to keep the credit card due dates and purchases organized to make sure you don’t miss payments or get charged for thing you didn’t buy. What I have found to be very useful is an online program calledYodlee Moneycenter.
With Yodlee, you can enter all of your credit card and banking information and manage it from one screen. Yodlee have a whole bunch of features which will be discussed in a future article, but most importantly it reminds you of payment due dates and irregular credit card activity via email. You can also keep track of your spending habits and make a budget. You will never have to remember each credit cards password, because they are all safely stored on Yodlee. The one big tip is to make a password for Yodlee that is at least 8 digits long that is made of random number and letters that may take a few weeks to memorize. Don’t use a password that has words or has a meaning to you. With Yodlee, you will never miss a payment or loose track of your debt to income ratio.
