I was reading blogs earlier today and came across an article at Blogger Lounge  which talked about a program called Chip-In which allows you to raise money from a website.  This tool could be very useful for anyone doing a fundraiser.

If you are every in need of a website to get donations from, I would be willing to put up a donation banner to collect donations for you.

I have done my fair share of fundraising and I always appreciate the hard work of someone trying to raise money for a good cause.

So next time you have a fundraiser, email me with the details and I might sponsor the fundraising effort on my site.

Well, for whatever reason, I have yet to rank on google for my “The Hopeless Romantic” article.  So I am just going to kick it up a notch.  For anyone who is willing to incorporate this phrase into their blog I will write a review of you site.  So if you want a mini-review and a link back, than write this phrase in a post.

TheAdambox.com is running a campaign in exchange for a  free mini-review to become the #1 ranking “Hopeless Romantic” site on google.

So help a fellow blogger out.  I actually just came up with a brilliant idea about something because of this.  Stay tuned!

Save Energy by switching to Fluorescent

I recently went to the store to buy regular light bulbs and decided to do a little comparison of the energy and cost savings of using a Fluorescent bulb vs. a normal incandescent bulb.

For the basis of comparison, I am going to use the worst case scenario for the fluorescent bulbs.  That means for life span I am using the minimum life span of 8000 hours, for price I am using a high price of $3 which is really high, and for energy consumption I am using 28 Watts for comparison with a 100 W normal bulb.

So lets dig in a compare the two bulbs side by side.

With these numbers we can easily calculated how much each bulb cost’s per hour in electricity to get 1200 Lumens of light.
Assuming the cost of electricity to be $.12/kWh here are the numbers.

Fluorescent Bulb
$3/8000hrs. + .12 * 26 watts / 1000 watts = $.0035 per hour
COST TO USE FOR 8,000 HRS = $28

Regular Light Bulb
$.50/1000hrs. + .12 * 100watts/1000watts = $.013 per hour
COST TO USE FOR 8,000 HRS = $104

So there you have it.  It is substantially cheaper to use fluorescent bulbs over regular light bulbs.  It is discouraging to see that a fluorescent bulb costs 6 times more money but the pay off comes after only using the light bulb for 17 hrs.

So if you go and invest in all fluorescent light bulbs for your house, the saving will be noticeable within a month.

This is seriously one of the most obvious investments that anyone should make.

I have been using mine for about 2 weeks now and I can’t tell the difference as far a light or color, so there is no disadvantage.

REMEMBER THIS IS THE WORST CASE SCENARIO, YOU PROBABLY WILL SAVE MUCH MORE MONEY THAN THIS STUDY.

Order bulls now:

I came across this information while randomly searching a forum and thought this could be very useful to my readers.

Yes, technically this is still not legal, because you are not paying for the MP3’s, so I don’t condone this action, but if you don’t care, then go for it.

USING GOOGLE TO FIND MP3 QUICKLY.

Enter the following into Google Search and Replace “SONG TITLE” with the song you want to find.

-inurl:(htm|html|php) intitle:”index of” +”last modified” +”parent directory” +description +size +(wma|mp3) “SONG TITLE”

It works like a charm!! Have fun.
