The summer is months away , but it is the right time to be think about planning a great backpacking trip. If you never have done a backpacking trip take the time to try it out at least once, because their is nothing like getting away from the everyday busy life. The peace one has after a days hike while sitting under moonlight is like nothing else. Go to your local ranger station to find out the best places to hike in your area.
For the seasoned hiker, I thought I would recommend a hike that is considered fairly difficult and sometimes unpleasant, but it is so unique that the experience will grow on you as a great memory. The hike I am talking about, is hiking the entire loast coast trail on the northern coast of California. It is so unique in that 25 miles of the hike run right on the sandy beach. The second half of the hike moves inland where the scenery turns to what I had always pictured as a rainforest. The forest is dense and the foliage is greener than anything I have ever seen. There are a few things to be learned about how to hike this trail, so in an upcoming article I will post a small intro guide about hiking the lost coast trail. Until then, watch this video from the hike.
